Good morning!

It has been a couple of weeks since I last blogged.  Our football team beat Palmer last week and gained national attention for all the rushing yards compiled by both teams.  Also since I last blogged, our volleyball team has won 4 ball games in a row.  Finally, our cross country team hosted a successful 33 team meet last Saturday with our varsity and jv boys coming in first!

Cross Country district meet will be Monday in Malakoff.  Our kids have worked hard and improved dramatically over the course of the season.  We are anxious to reap the benefits on Monday!  Volleyball is going to Teague tonight and wraps up regular season on Tuesday in Leon with a chance to tie for district champs.  We are anticipating cross country going forward to regionals and our volleyball team making a deep run in the playoffs!

Football plays at Grandview tonight.  They are a highly ranked team.  We are excited about the challenge.  Next week will be senior night.  As it stands now, we need to win 1 of the last 3 to make the playoffs.  We are pleased with our improvement throughout the course of the season and are hopeful of playing in post district.

If you ever have any questions please call at 903 - 425 - 5158.

See you at the fields,

Coach Wendel

Grandview will be wearing their pink shirts tonight. He also stated that there will be donation boxes at the entry gates. Regardless of the location. I encourage everyone to make a donation for the fight against breast cancer.

The Mighty Bulldog Marching Band received a one at the UIL Regional Marching Contest in Mesquite yesterday. The Bulldog Band earned a rating of one from each of the three judges. Out of 10 1A & 2A bands, only four bands received the highest rating of one.

The band started marching rehearsals at the first of August and has put in many hours of practice for this contest. Congratulations to all the band students and to the band directors, Todd Felty and Jim Taylor, on this accomplishment. Also, a special thanks to all the parents and staff members that made the trip to Mesquite to support the Bulldog Band.

Yesterday, I received a visit from Eustace Mayor Laura Ward. She brought with her a recently passed city ordinance. A copy of that city ordinance is attached at the top of this post. Basically, the new city ordinance makes it illegal to use, possess, or sell K-2 or any product similar to K-2 in the city of Eustace. While EISD had banned the possession of K-2 under its Student Handbook, I am very pleased that the city leaders recognized the potential hazards associated with this product. I commend the mayor and all city council members for taking this action.
